Sunday Service

It can be intimidating coming into a new church for the first time, especially when you aren’t sure how you should act, where to go, when to do things, whether people are going to point you out… ugh. Our desire at Holy Cross is to provide a welcoming environment whether you have been a Christian for a long time or are just investigating this Jesus guy.

What to expect

Our services are around 90 minutes long. They include singing, reading of the Bible, prayer, preaching, and the weekly celebration of the Lord’s Supper. We are a congregation with lots of little ones and so we seek to do what we can to make worship a meaningful time for them as well. During the sermon kids ages 3 through 5th grade can head out to hear the Gospel in a developmentally appropriate way. You can participate in as much or as little as you’d like.

Music

Our music seeks to take the rich heritage of music we’ve inherited from those who’ve gone before us and bring it into a form that is more approachable for our cultural moment. You’ll often hear traditional hymns rearranged or even retuned to help others engage with them. You’ll also hear newer songs that contain rich lyrics to give voice to our praise of God.

Sermons

Our sermons seek to both explain the Bible and to apply it to our lives all through the lens of the life transforming message of the Gospel of Jesus. For the most part, our sermons are expository, preaching through books of the Bible rather than simply topical.

Come as you are

We don’t believe that you come to worship to impress God… or anyone else. There is no dress code at Holy Cross. You will see coats and ties along with jeans and untucked shirts. You will see dresses and skirts, but also shorts and flip flops. What you wear is far less important than that you’re there.
